Most of our guests base their UK Country Holiday around our superb fly-fishing, but will usually add at least one of the following country pursuits to their week's trip.

FISHING | FALCONRY | RIDING | SHOOTING

FISHING
fly fishing in the Sussex CountysideFly fishing is our specialty. If you want a fly fishing break in the UK, you've come to the right place.

We are surrounded by some of the best fly fishing in the south, and our choice of waters include the Duke of Northumberland's gin-clear stalking fishery at Chalk Springs, the beautiful reservoirs of Bewl and Powdermill, Roger Daltrey's fishery at Lakedown, and the UK's most famous big fish water, Dever Springs. If you've never caught a double figure trout, now's your chance!

This year we are proud to be able to offer the chance to fish on one of the world's most famous and exclusive chalk streams, the River Itchen. At a fraction of the price of most of the day tickets on this beautiful water (and they are extremely difficult to find), this is a unique opportunity to try the quintessential English fishing experience.

Please click on the Fishing button on the top menu for full details.

FALCONRY
Falconry in West SussexA hands-on falconry experience is one of our most popular itinerary activities. We work closely with one of the UK's best loved falconers, Julian Ford, and we can arrange a private flying experience for our visitors, either in nearby Ashdown Forest, at Old Cottage, or at Julian's  birds of prey centre where over 70 birds are kept, including hawks, falcons, eagles, vultures, buzzards and owls.

We offer a range of falconry experiences, including hawk walks (a fascinating hands-on 3 hour walk in the forest with Julian and a Harris Hawk), Owl sessions (hands-on and flying) and birds of prey displays with participation.

This year, from November to March, we are offering an incredible and unique experience - hunting with hawks. Experience the medieval technique of hunting with birds of prey. We will take you to the beautiful Ashdown Forest for the day, where you will watch and take part in a centuries old tradition. We can't guarantee that the birds will catch you a pheasant supper, but it's a day that you will never forget.

SHOOTING
clay pigeon shooting in the countrysideWe are pleased to be able to offer clay pigeon and skeet shooting at Northall Clay Pigeon Club. Beginners are welcome, and tuition can be arranged with a qualified club coach. The club has excellent facilities, and there are many challenging traps. After a morning of practice, we can also offer a competition for the best shot.
Northall Club is run by Vic and Jan Kerwood, whose daughter Charlotte is ranked as one of the best shooters in the world and is the youngest winner of a Gold medal at the Commonwealth Championships.

An added bonus is that we will be just round the corner from our favourite old pub in Sussex, the Griffin at Fletching. A log fire, superb food and a pint of Harveys Sussex ale is just the thing after a morning's shooting.

RIDING
horse riding in SussexWe are situated in the middle of beautiful riding countryside. One of our most popular rides is over the nearby South Downs range of hills.
