Accommodation is the beautiful and historically important 500 year old 'Old Cottage'. Set in the middle of the Sussex countryside, it is your base for an inspiring personalised holiday, cosy weekend, or straightforward week-long country cottage let.
We can pick you up from the airport or train station - London Gatwick is only 20 minutes away, and London Heathrow about 90 minutes.
For those that want to book one of our popular country pursuits breaks, a member of the team is at your disposal for your entire stay, and will transport and guide you whenever you like. We can also arrange a hire car for you if you prefer.
Working with you, we put together a personalised itinerary. The majority of our guests base their holiday around our speciality, fly fishing. Other activities that we arrange include falconry, and riding. Do as much or as little as you like!
We are home to some of the most beautiful fly fishing in the South of England, with fisheries that include the Duke of Northumberland's waters, Roger Daltrey of The Who's nearby fishery (he is often to be seen at the water), some of the best saltwater fly-fishing in the UK and a superb stretch of the world famous river Itchen. There is a real chance of a double figure fish at some of our chosen waters. We also offer the chance of fishing with well-known angler and author, Peter Cockwill. An excellent and full fly-fishing tackle kit is provided for your stay, and we can provide tuition - either for beginners or to brush up on your technique!.
In 2009/10 we are also offering the incredible and unique chance to hunt with birds of prey in the beautiful Ashdown Forest. An unforgettable experience.
What sets us apart from many other country holidays is our proximity to London. Most of our guests from overseas spend at least a day sightseeing in London, and of course, we will make all the travel arrangements for you. We can also book theatre tickets, availability permitting. A complimentary London Time-Out magazine is provided at the Cottage.
Breakfast is either Continental or Full English, and all food is sourced locally and is mostly organic. Lunch is a splendid hamper at your chosen day's venue, and we provide a wonderful list of the South's finest restaurants and gastro-pubs for your evening meal. Click on cuisine for further details.
Old Cottage can also be booked for a week long stay with breakfast - please see our booking page for details. There are discounts available for last minute bookings.We specialise in weekend visits. Please see the 'bookings' page for 'Father and Son Weekends', and corporate fly-fishing & falconry visits. For larger parties, we can open up the rest of the main house, which provides a further three bedrooms and two bathrooms.
